How to teach your teen financial responsibility with allowances

My personal opinion is that every teenager should have a small part time job where they can work for themselves, set their own hours and their own schedule.

But that doesn’t work for every family!

Because I am a mom, I know that one size does NOT fit all! Some ones parenting advice may not work for you, for your child, or for your family.

That is why I love talking to other parents with other points of view, that have a strategy that worked for them. (If it works, don’t knock it!)

A few weeks ago, I got the opportunity to interview Sybil Jones from Mamas and Coffee, to get her opinion, and her experience of how she teaches her 3 teen and preteen daughters good financial management and financial responsibility.

Setting your teen up for academic Success

Setting your teen up for academic Success

Are you looking for some additional podcast episodes with info on how to help your teen this summer?

I am excited to announce the new release of the my latest podcast interview from the host of the Antihustle Nation, Jac Julien.

It was so much fun to be interviewed by Jac, and talk ALL about how to help your teen with study skills, organization, and time management.

I explained how tough it can be for us parents when our teens and preteens are struggling in school. Because if our kids are struggling with time management, or organization, or motivation, maybe we have a hard time teaching these skills to our teens because we struggle with these areas ourselves in our adult lives too!

Why summer is the best time for your child to catch up this school year

Why summer is the best time for your child to catch up this school year

Do you know how much the summer slide affects your teen or tween?

New research has discovered that your teen can lose up to 50% of their learning gains during the summer months due to summer learning loss!

That number is crazy!!!!

No wonder our kids are struggling in school! Every time they start a new school year, they are starting further and further behind! If every year starts off with our kids playing “catch up”, then how can we expect our kids to get ahead and do well in school?

The best way for us to help prevent the summer learning loss in our kids is to help them not fall behind this summer by keeping their minds sharp, active, and challenged. And the BEST way to do that is to provide them with a good summer resource!

What your teen should focus on this summer

What your teen should focus on this summer

Now that your teen or tween has summer on the brain, I'd love to know, how did the end of the school year go?

Did they get the grades they wanted, or did they struggle a bit?

Did they pass all their final exams, or was study prep hard for them?

Did they pass their classes, or do they have to take summer school?

If this year finished well for you and your teen, then I am so excited that all their hard work paid off! But, if your teen didn't get the grades that they worked so hard for, then you might be looking for some additional summer resources.

Here's the thing. Summers are the perfect time to help your student catch up on their studies so that they can be better prepared for the start of the new school year in the fall. That is why I highly encourage students to work on improving their academic skills over the summer, while their is no pressure to perform in school.

That is why I have created an additional resource just for YOU!

How to have a tutor at your fingertips!

How to have a tutor at your fingertips!

If you are a parent with a teen that struggles in school, then you have likely thought about getting a tutor for your teen.

You may want a tutor for your teen, but don’t know where to start, where to find a good tutor, or how you are going to afford a good one.

Many parents think about getting a tutor, and wonder if the cost is worth the investment.

And as a private tutor for over 10 years, I can tell you, DON’T DO IT!

Now, why would I say that? For a few different reasons

  1. Tutoring is expensive, and not every family can afford it.

  2. There are other ways of getting extra help for your teen that won’t break the bank (or are free!)

  3. Your teen doesn’t want their hand held. They simply want to be empowered to do well on their own!

Now, you know private tutoring can be crazy expensive, but you also know that your teen needs a little extra help in school.

So why isn’t there a better option for your teen that can provide help for your child but also doesn’t cost an arm and a leg!

Here is how you can afford to have a tutor at your fingertips, without paying thousand for a tutor!
