To the parents of teens, you are enough! Here's why!

To the parents of teens, you are enough! Here's why!

As a high school tutor, I have seen many parents of teens and preteens struggle with deciding which is the best way to help their teen in school.

Plenty of parents feel tired, worn out, and exhausted with the constant battle between supporting their teen in school, and meeting resistance from their teen.

You try so hard!

  • You try helping your teen with homework

  • You try to encourage them to study more

  • You try to help them understand how important their grades are.

  • You try to help them focus on the benefits of learning

You try everything you can to help, only to be met with an eye roll, ignored, or another battle over homework.

No matter how hard you try, you just don’t feel like you are making any progress, or seeing the fruits of your labor.

Let me ask you, do you have good support around you?

Do you have any support system around you?

If you are a parent of a teen then you NEED a good support system and a good parent support group!

Parenting is HARD! Teens can be SO rough on parents!

We pour and pour our love, support, and encouragement into them, only to be left feeling completely dry ourselves!

So I’d love to know! Do you have a support group?

Tired of fighting with your teen over schoolwork?

Tired of fighting with your teen over schoolwork?

I have seen it many times!

Parents ask their teens teens how they are doing in school, if they have completed homework, or if they studied for their next test.

But every time you ask, you are met with resistance.

You only want to make sure that they are staying on top of their assignments, but they are resistant to your help.

The questions lead to resistance, which leads to frustration, which leads to fights. For some parents, the fighting becomes a nightly struggle as it becomes the battle of wills.

So many parents come to me and tell me “I’m just SO tired of the fighting!”

How to inspire a love of reading in your teen

How to inspire a love of reading in your teen

If your teen is like many teens in high school, having a love of reading is not too high on their list of priorities.

Most high school students are forced to read hundreds of pages from textbooks every week. After reading page after page of “boring” text, why would they be inspired to read anything for “fun”.

I believe that everyone should develop a love of reading!

I believe we as parents have a responsibility to our kids to teach them to be life long learners. And the best way for anyone to be a self learner is through reading new information.

Why Where your Teen goes to Study is Important

Why Where your Teen goes to Study is Important

Further education isn’t for everyone but if your teen is academic, they should be looking at colleges and working out what they would like to study and where. Moving away to college is a really exciting opportunity but picking the right place is key.

Though you should definitely be thinking about what sort of grades your teen is likely to get and what your budget is, the location you choose is perhaps the most important thing that many people forget to consider. No matter whether you are studying for a teaching degree or you want to go to art school, the location is going to impact on your experience.

Because they’re young, it’s hard to know what you want to do for the rest of your life when you’re only a teen. So, let’s take a look at what you can do to help them.

We all know that education can be hard, especially as it becomes more advanced and we move out of the normal, state-mandated requirements.

With this burning desire, finding the pleasure and accomplishment in education will come much more naturally to you.
